New Jersey is a true melting pot. It is made up of people from all walks of life, from a multitude of countries and cultures. One of the largest immigrant communities in New Jersey is Hispanic. So when an elderly person speaks primarily Spanish rather than English, it can be challenging to find an experienced caregiver in New Jersey who can both communicate in their native language and offer sensitivity and a true understanding of their specific Hispanic culture.
Additionally, many of these seniors will experience loneliness and depression as they age, either as a result of living alone or because of few or no close family ties. Making matters worse, reduced contact with their culture of origin can result in an inability to actively participate in the community.
As these seniors age, it is inevitable that they lose connection with circles of friends and they will find it more difficult to create new friendships.
To address these issues and challenges in New Jersey, Affinity Home Care of NJ has created a program that we call “Cultural Care” … cultural based home care.

Since our founding in 2004, Affinity Care of NJ has built and cultivated a team of compassionate caregivers who specialize in providing home care to seniors and others in our local Hispanic communities.
We have caregivers who speak fluent Spanish and understand the various Hispanic cultures. In addition, our caregivers have Hispanic culinary experience, so preparing authentic meals and comfort foods is a benefit we can provide to our Hispanic clientele.
